Publish Your High-Impact Research with Effective Thesis

The Effective Thesis Research Report aims to showcase student research that addresses the world’s most pressing challenges. Our goal is to highlight research that identifies the most crucial unanswered questions, proposes actionable solutions, and fosters interdisciplinary collaboration to drive real-world change.

We welcome both individual and group submissions from students across all disciplines who are passionate about using research to make a difference.

We are currently open to entries for our 2025 report.

The application deadline is 15 August 2025 and successful applicants will be notified by 30 September 2025.

  • Your research has the potential to go beyond the classroom and make a tangible difference in the world. By submitting your work, you can:

    • Identify the Most Pressing Research Priorities – Highlight the key unanswered questions in your field that deserve attention.

    • Get Published & Gain Recognition – Share your research with a global audience of academics, professionals, and policymakers.

    • Make an Impact – Contribute to solving pressing challenges in AI, Biosecurity, Animal Welfare, Global Priorities, and more.

    • Boost Your Career – Strengthen your portfolio with a published piece that demonstrates your expertise and commitment to meaningful research.

    • Join a Community of High-Impact Thinkers – Connect with other students, researchers, and experts working on the world’s most pressing challenges.

  • We are seeking submissions that engage with one or more of the following themes:

🔹 1. What are the top high-impact research questions in your discipline and research area of interest?

Efforts toward solving the world’s key challenges can be accelerated if we ask and answer the right questions. This is your chance to highlight the most important, neglected, and tractable research questions in your field.

    • What are the most important, neglected and tractable open research questions in global health, AI, biosecurity, animal welfare, climate change, or another critical field?

    • Why do these questions matter? What real-world impact could answering them have?

🔹 2. What existing academic research/findings are ready for real-world impact, but remain underutilised?

Academic research often produces insights with transformative potential, yet many discoveries may not be effectively translated into policies or interventions that drive change.

    • What existing research findings could have an immediate impact if applied?

    • What are the barriers preventing these findings from being implemented (e.g., funding, policy inertia, lack of public awareness)?

    • What concrete steps could help bridge the gap between research and action? Who are the key actors who should take these steps?

🔹 3. What are the most promising interdisciplinary approaches to solving key global challenges?

Some of the world’s most urgent challenges can’t be solved within a single field. Interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers in AI, public health, economics, environmental science, and other fields may be crucial for solutions that truly work.

    • What global challenge could be best addressed by collaboration across multiple disciplines?

    • How could researchers, policymakers, and stakeholders from different fields (e.g., AI, public health, economics) work together on addressing this issue?

  • We invite submissions across all disciplines.

We are interested in pieces that address the world’s most pressing issues, including but not limited to:

    🔹 Global Priorities Research

    🔹 Global Health & Development

    🔹 AI Safety and Governance

    🔹 Climate Change & Sustainability

    🔹 Biosecurity & Pandemics

    🔹 Climate Change & Sustainability

    🔹 Animal Welfare & Ethics

    🔹 Institutional Decision Making

If your research tackles an important and pressing issue, we want to hear from you!
