Meet Our Coaches

We are collaborating with external coaches who offer their services to Effective Thesis students. These coaches bring specialized knowledge in university admissions, specific cause areas, research methodologies, and more. Please note that Effective Thesis has paused ts own coaching services due to funding constraints. 

    • Materials Sciences, Thesis Writing and Career Coaching by Emilie Ressouche
        • Specialization: Expertise in materials science, particularly polymers and organic materials, focusing on academic writing support for bachelor's, master's, and PhD theses.

        • Services Offered:
            • Career orientation in academia for chemistry and materials science.

            • One-on-one coaching for thesis writing, including topic selection, bibliography tips, writing plans, and overcoming writing challenges.

            • Group writing retreat sessions for peer support and focused writing time.

    • UK University Admissions Support Programme by Hannah Rowberry
        • Specialization: Guidance in UK undergraduate admissions, focusing on aligning academic pursuits with Effective Altruism principles.

    • Magnify Mentoring
        • Specialization: Connecting ambitious individuals from underrepresented backgrounds with mentors to have a positive impact with their careers and lives. Magnify Mentoring supports a global community through mentorship, networking, and professional development training.

    • AI Safety Quest advising calls
        • Specialization: Advising (navigation) calls for people interested in studying or working on AI Safety / alignment. 

        • Services offered: Free 1:1 navigation/advising calls. Group events. 

    • Dave Cortright, Career Coach
        • Specialization: Professional Integral Coaching, with a background in technology, IT, design and engineering. 

        • Services offered: 1:1 coaching sessions. The first session is always free, and subsequent sessions or packages are offered on a sliding scale.

    • Coaching Providers via Mental Health Navigator  
      • Specialization: A list of coaches and counselors. Many of them serve communities of people trying to have a social impact. 

      • Services offered: Coaching, Counseling, group work & more. Note, many of these providers charge a fee and do not offer a free first session, so check before arranging an appointment.
