Get involved

Contribute to our mission of helping students have more impact with their research careers

Volunteering, joining our network of experts, and other ways to get involved

Join our Opportunities team

Our volunteers scan the Effective Altruism and academic ecosystems for research-related opportunities relevant to students who use our services. See the link below for more information and to get in touch.

Join our network of experts

Our experts provide valuable guidance to students interested in their field of research. An expert might offer feedback on a research proposal, have a one-off call with a student to discuss their ideas, or provide ongoing mentorship — the role is very flexible and you can choose the level of commitment.

Contribute to our content

If you want to: use your experiences as a student or researcher to help us identify the best advice to offer students; have an interest or background in any of the research directions we feature on our site; or want to share your opinions on what makes for inspiring and well-written content, we would love you to join our pool of content reviewers.

Become a volunteer coach

Our coaches help students have more impact with their research by helping them identify research directions that are a good fit for them, offering useful resources, and connecting students with experts in their field. If you’re interested in volunteering to coach students a few hours a week, we’d love to hear from you!

Supervise students

We want to help promising students find great supervisors with expertise in the areas they're interested in. If you're interested in supervising students working on one or more of our research directions, or you've had a positive experience with a supervisor who you think would supervise students working on one or more of our research directions, please let us know!

Let others know about us

You can help spread the word by:

  • Letting others know about our events and services.
  • Linking to our site from your website or newsletter.
  • Sharing posts from our Twitter or Facebook.
  • Distributing our leaflets (1, 2), for example at your university.
  • Running a tabling day at your university – please reach out if you're interested in doing this!
